2025 AV: Round 5 – Sandown Road Relays

Date: Saturday 28th June 2025

Team Entries Close: Monday 23rd June 2025, 11:59am (Midday)

Athlete Memberships for Eligibility Close: Wednesday 24th June 2025, 11:59am (Midday)

Location: Sandown Racecourse, Springvale, VIC 3171 (Google link here).

Duathlon: Triathlon Victoria will be holding a duathlon event prior to the Athletics Victoria Relay event. Please keep the bitumen motor racing circuit clear, and exercise caution until that event is completed. Entry to the grandstand and lawn areas will be open before that time, so feel free to come in, set up, visit the administration area to pick up bibs etc. before warming up. Entry to the Sandown Racecourse for Athletics Victoria patrons will be as usual, via Gate 3. Should the track become available earlier for warm ups, announcements will be made. There is STRICTLY no access permitted to the Sandown thoroughbred racing track (grass) under any circumstances for the purposes of warm up. Please refrain from entering this area. Melbourne Racing Club security will be onsite to enforce this.

Start your engines for the Sandown Road Relays! Grab your teammates and tear up the raceway in the second Relay event of the ON XCR’25 Calendar.

Please Note: Athletes do not enter themselves into relay competitions. Clubs will enter and pay for team entries and select the athletes for their teams. Any questions regarding team selection should be made directly to your club.

2025 AV: Round 6 – Ballarat State XCR Championships

XCR25 hosts the selection race for the Open and U20 athletes at the location of Park hosts the selection trials for the Australian Cross Country Championships at the 2025 National Venue.

In 2025, package holders are not automatically entered into XCR events. Each member will need to sign up for each round they wish to participate in.

Welcome to what could be Australia’s flattest 10km road race, the Lakeside:10. In the picturesque inner-city Albert Park precinct, the Lakeside:10 includes two laps out and back from Lakeside Stadium to Junction Oval on Lakeside Drive. You’ll then finish inside Melbourne’s premier Athletics arena, Lakeside Stadium! The Lakeside:10 is the perfect opportunity for you to hit that 10km goal, run a quick time or simply enjoy the lake’s picturesque surroundings.

2025 AV: Round 8 – Ballarat 15km

Date: Sunday 10th August 2025

Location: Lake Wendouree, Ballarat, VIC 3350

The traditional stomping ground of XCR legend Steve Moneghetti, Lake Wendouree provides the backdrop for this fast-paced event, with Open completing 6km or 15km courses and Juniors 6km. After the race, stay on and enjoy the best that Ballarat and the surrounding Goldfields offer, including the Eureka Centre, Sovereign Hill, the Gold Museum and the Botanic Gardens.

Lionel Cowper Handicap & Stewart McQuie Championships

Date: Saturday 23 August, 2025, 10:00am

Distance: 12km or 6km

Club Event Outline: The Lionel Cowper Handicap & Stewart McQuie Championships are being held at Lysterfield Lake.

This is a 12km trail race in an idyllic setting which comprises two laps of a 6km loop around the lake. A 6km option is also available. 

Enter the park from Horswood Road. The start and finish is located near the jetty.

A level course along the banks of the Yarra River, the Burnley 4km and Half Marathon is the perfect opportunity to challenge yourself and aim for a personal best or tune-up for a big spring and summer of fitness.

2025 AV: Round 10 – Tan Relays

Date: Saturday 20th September, 2025

Team Entries Close: Monday 15th September, 2025 11:59am (Midday)

Location: Tan Track, Melbourne, VIC 3000

The 2025 On XCR season culminates back at the home of racing in Melbourne, The Tan. Athletes will complete one lap of the 3.8km circuit in the hope of bringing the 2025 On XCR premiership to their club.

Club administrators are responsible for completing team entries for XCR Relay events, not individual athletes. Any queries regarding team selection should be directed to your club.

Event Details: On Saturday 29th September is the final club race of the winter season. The 15km race is a battle for the Stewart Findlay Handicap and Eddie Moore Championship trophies. A shorter option will also be available.

2025 AV: Round 2 – St Anne’s Myrniong 12km

With the individual 12km returning to St Anne’s Winery in Myrniong for 2025, the course this year will start in the same location as 2024’s Ekiden Relay located below the Tasting & Function Rooms.

With sweeping landscapes and beautiful scenery, St Anne’s Myrniong promises to offer participants the opportunity for a challenging XCR round, followed by a well-deserved aperitif by enjoying the best of the venue’s local produce afterwards. The 2025 Heritage Round sees the return to the awe-inspiring Hanging Rock. Hanging Rock recreation reserve offers athletes a challenging course in a ruggedly beautiful setting. This event is an excellent opportunity for clubs to showcase their history, and we encourage athletes to do so again in 2025.

Nim Gorrie Handicap

Date: Saturday 3 May, 2025, 10:00am

Distance: 6.4km

Event Details: The seond club race of the season is the Nim Gorrie Handicap being held at Karkarook Park in Heatherton.

The 6.4km course is three and a bit laps, combining the Lake Trail and Wetland Trail, starting from the northern end of the Wetland Trail and finishing near the Dragonfly Lookout.

Enter from Fairchild Street opposite Bunnings. We are meeting at the Dragonfly Shelter adjacent to the first car park as you drive in.
