Training Malvern encourages people of all ages and abilities to come along and join us. Our members range from social joggers to elite competitive athletes; however, all members are treated in the same manner and receive the full benefits of Club membership. How do we train? Training is conducted at Kooyong Park on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, commencing at 6pm. The standard training schedule is as follows: 6:10pm Warm up run 6:25pm Dynamic stretching 6:35pm Drills or plyometric excercises, followed by run throughs 6:45pm The main running session 7:30pm Cool down run 7:40pm Static stretching All runners are divided into groups according to ability and fitness, and supervised by one of the qualified Malvern coaches. The training sessions are designed specifically around the time of year, upcoming races and the personal needs of individual athletes. Club members also organize informal Sunday "easy long runs" from a range of locations, including the Dandenong Ranges, Lysterfield Park and Yarra trails. These runs generally commence at 8:00am. Arrangements are often made to visit a nearby café for a hearty breakfast post run! Distances and courses will vary throughout the year and members are advised through the Training Schedule distributed on a monthly basis.
