Winter Is Coming

It is April and the winter season of road and cross country running is just around the corner. In 2016 we have a couple of new venues for XCR races and Athletics Victoria have made some changes to their membership packages.

Our first club event is the 30th Malvern versus Richmond Challenge 8km at the Tan Track on Saturday 9 April at 10:30am. This year it is Malvern’s turn to bring sweet dishes.

Then one week later it is round 1 of XCR with the Jells Park Cross Country 6km Relay on Saturday 16 April at 12:30pm. If you wish to compete, you will need to be a registered AV Athlete member before midday on Wednesday 13 April. Please note that if an athlete competes who has registered after the cut off time, the team will become invitational.

Membership in 2016/17

Athletics Victoria has tweaked Athlete membership so that AV Shield summer competition is no longer included in the base membership fee and is instead an optional extra. AV has also introduced Recreational Runner membership which we recommend for members who don't intend to represent Malvern at AV events. Please visit the Membership page for information or contact the registrar at registrar@malvernharriers.com.au for help.

New XCR Venues

Round 2 of XCR will be at Wandin Park in the Yarra Valley on Saturday 7 May which replaces the short cross country events previously held at Lardner Park. Round 3 will be at Cruden Farm in Langwarrin which replaces the long cross country events previously held at Brimbank Park. Please visit our 2016 Calendar to check out all our winter races.
